Weekend Custodian Job Description

 

WEEKEND STUDENT CUSTODIAN JOB DESCRIPTION

General Information:

Begin work no later than 7:00 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday, working 6 hours maximum per week unless authorized by the Hall Coordinator.  Call an authorized substitute in advance if you can’t work.

Duties:

Doors:   unlock exterior doors by 7:00 a.m.

Restrooms:  Check and replace paper towels and toilet paper.  Mop excess pools of water if
necessary.

Trash:   Pick up trash and place in dumpsters.  Replace trash liners.

Halls:  Pick up loose paper, trash, etc., in corridors.  Vacuum areas if badly needed.  Clean
water fountains (If needed)

Stairwells: Remove loose trash from stairway and dust mop each day.

Lounges: Empty wastebaskets, pick up loose trash and straighten furniture.  Empty
wastebasket in hall office.  Do not discard newspapers from preceding or current day.

Laundry Rooms: Pick up trash and straighten up area.

Snow:  Shovel snow from all entrances if it is covering the steps and landings.  Sweep walk-off
mats near entrances.

Newspapers: Pick up bundle from NW outside exit doors.  Put in Secretary’s office.

Notes

Sign your time sheet at least once a weekend.  Return supplies and equipment to where you found them and any keys to the main desk.

Call an authorized substitute in advance if you cannot work; if you are unable to get a substitute contact the Assistant Hall Coordinator by Friday noon.
