1.  Help RAs become outstanding house leadership recruiters and advisors?

I will help each Bender Hall Resident Assistant to become an outstanding house leadership recruiter and advisor in the following ways:

 Outstanding House Leadership Recruiter

a)  I will require all Bender Hall RAs to present at least 1 program at the Spring 1999 leadership learnshop or at the  1999 UNI RA Conference this semester, and  recruit at least 5 residents to the Spring Leadership Learnshop.
b)  I will require all Bender Hall RAs to attend the New House Officer Workshop with all of their new Spring Semester House Officers).

 Outstanding Advisor

 a) Provide a detailed presentation on assessing last semesters
hall and house programming efforts and advising during Winter
Workshop Training, to help build on this Spring Semester .
        b) I will hold each Bender Hall RA accountable to their role as
advisors to their house governments by discussing their house
government advising role at each scheduled one-on-one, and
at each Bender Hall Staff Meeting.

2. What will you do to help RAs become outstanding programmers
(including attention to the areas of diversity, alcohol, roommates,
    academics)?

I will help each Bender Hall RA to become an outstanding programmer in the following ways:

 Outstanding Programmer

a) I will require each Bender Hall RA to stop in my office
monthly at our one-on-ones to discuss and obtain
programming resources from my programming files.
b) I will remind all Bender Hall RAs (at each staff meeting)
which types of programs they should encourage as advisors in
    their houses.
c) Encourage each Bender Hall RA to not only utilize myself as a
resource but use many of the resources on campus, such as:
the EMCC, WRC, Health Center, etc.
d) I will require all Bender Hall RA's to promote and implement
the Community and Roommate Contracts, which should
create a great atmosphere for house and hall programming.
e) I will require each Bender Hall RA to discuss goals and
    expectations with their house governments.
f) I will hold myself accountable to presenting at least one hall
program during the Spring 1999 semester (lead by example).
g) I will require each Bender Hall RA to implement some type of
small group activity (i.e. LUGS) in their houses this semester
to go along with the new Bender Hall Small Group House
    interaction Pilot Program.
h) I will require each Bender Hall RA to meet individually with
each new resident in their house this semester.

3. What will you do to help Members of Hall Programming Board become
    outstanding leaders?

I will help members of Hall Programming Board become outstanding leaders in the following ways:

  Outstanding Leader

   a) I will require the Bender Hall Vice President (Dana King) to
meet with me bi-weekly to discuss hall programming goals and
       expectations.
   b) I will require the Bender Hall Vice President (Dana King) to set
programming goals for herself and for each Bender Hall House
       Vice President.
   c) I will require the Bender Hall Vice President (Dana King) to
encourage Bender Hall Programming Board to plan a large
program each semester with Dancer Hall and possibly
       Campbell Hall.

4. Help "special populations" students (e.g. students of color, international students, students with disabilities, glbt students succeed as citizens and scholars.

I will help "special populations" students (e.g. students of color, international students, students with disabilities, students of minority religious and ethnic groups, students with minority culinary needs, and glbt students) succeed as citizens and scholars by:

a) Requiring a few Bender Hall RAs and hall leaders to act as
liaisons to UNI Student Organizations like LGBTA, Black
Student Union, and a few other organizations, as well as require
Bender Hall House Secretary's to attend Dinning Club Meetings.
b) Require Bender Hall Programming Board to implement certain
programs which will invite various campus student organizations
to come into Bender Hall and present programs (i.e. LGBTA,
Black Student Union, UNI Dinning Center).
c)  Require all RAs to display informative bulletin boards that
express what it might be like to be a "special populations"
student, and which also educates residents about each
     populations needs and concerns.
