From:  "Joanne Goldwater" <jagoldwater@osprey.smcm.edu>

We just revised our mission statement last spring.  It is as follows:

"The purpose of the Office of Residence Life is to support the academic
mission of the College by creating caring living learning communities
conducive to sleeping, studying, and socializing.  We cultivate student
leaders and we serve and educate our residents."

It is my strong belief that mission statements should be kept short and
simple.  People need to be able to repeat them when asked or share them
when appropriate.  We believe that the above statement appropriately
reflects what it is that we do, why we do it and who we do it for.

If I can be of any additional assistance, please contact me.

Here's one that is "hot off the press" at Western Washington University
-It is not specific to "Residence Life", but is more general for the
entire University Residences operation.

"University Residences staff, in support of Western Washington
University's mission, provide secure, comfortable and affordable housing
and dining services within a diverse community that encourages academic
success and personal growth."
