 RA Functionals Liasion Assignments and Descriptions

 
 

a. Leadership development: (1 RA)
Goal: Guide and assist in the development of leaders within the building (in particular our LEG executive board).
? Coordinate the recruitment and selection of our executive board
? Assist in quad or campus-wide LEG training workshops, leadership workshops, etc.
? Attend all LEG executive board meetings
? Assist LEG in planing weekly social and educational activities
? Be the contact person between RAs and LEG executive board
? Recruit potential RA candidates
? Coordinate the Resident of the Week and Resident of the Month initiative
? Recruit residents to attend campus-wide leadership workshops

b. Big Events: (1 RA)
Goal: Involve Gray in various campus-wide activities
? Activities include but are not limited to: Homecoming (banner, bulletin board and float), ‘Tis the Season, Ultimate Spring Blast (volleyball, Spirit Night, College Bowl and Roth Pond Regatta)
? Advertise and recruit Gray residents to participate in athletic events (Homecoming game, Midnight Madness, etc.)
? Coordinate Intramural programs for the building

c. Academic Coordinator: (1 RA)
Goal: Get our Faculty in Residence (FIR) for Gray and relay information to him/her regarding building activities.
? Coordinate programs and activities in building regarding study skills, Peer Academic Advisor (PAA), Prime Time, etc.
? Get Faculty and/or Staff members to attend building programs and/or functions.
? It is also expected that this staff member get a Faculty and/or Staff member to ”adopt” Gray (if there is no incumbent).
? Decorate the FIR office before FIR comes in
? Invite FIR to staff meetings (at least 1 per semester), involve him/her in building activities, etc.
? Attempt to have at minimum 1 program per semester with FIR
? Coordinate the “Take a Faculty to Lunch” program
? Act as liaison between PAA and building (introduction of PAA to building and help coordinate a program with PAA in building).
? Decorate Quiet Study Room with Study Skills Tips on or before October 15th.
? Coordinate any other campus-wide academic initiatives within Gray
 
 
 

d. Theme Week/ Philantrophic-Community Service: (1 RA)
Goal: Coordinate a complete week of activities centered on one topic. Investigate and help Gray get funding or resources (e.g. Community Development Grants, quad LEGs, community, etc.) for large events.  Coordinate our semesterly community service initiative.
? Coordinate the selection of Theme Weeks (1 in the Fall and 1 in the Spring)
? Advertise Theme Weeks campus-wide
? Advertisements will include teasers, banners, phone mail and posters
? Each staff member will be responsible to do an activity during Theme Week
? Work in conjunction with Lisa to obtain funding for large building initiatives
? Coordinate at minimum 1 community service initiative
? Coordinate Pride Patrol for each semester

e. FYRE: (1 RA)
? Update FYRE bulletin board on a monthly basis
? Do one FYRE Social by September 13th
? Do one FYRE Educational by September 30th
? Help with Opening Week Activities
? Organize First Year Resident of the week
? Interact with First Year Residents and involve them in building activities

f. Quad Council
? Attend Quad Council Meetings
? Coordinate “Mendy Stock” for the Quad
? Recruit two residents for Quad Council
? Coordinate other Quad wide events
?  Work with coordinating Quad wide Newsletter

1 of the programs each semester has to be on the diversity calendar
 

There must also be programs on:

Civility & Interpersonal Communication (fall & spring)
1 program on community service
1 on relationship violence (fall)
1 on personal safety (fall)
1 on substance abuse (fall)
1 First Year Social by SEPTEMBER 15th
1 First Year Educational by SEPTEMBER 30th
1 other FYRE program (fall)
1 athletic program (fall & spring)
1 traditional event
Homecoming (Float, banner, or bulletin board)
Pride Patrol participation (fall & spring)
Tis the Season (fall)
Ultimate Spring Blast (boat, spirit night, or bulletin board)
Each RA does 1 weekend program each semester

All programming will be done on a credit-based system.

Also we will do programming on every 3rd staff meeting of the month for the next month.

I cannot promise to be at every program, but I will be there as much as possible.

Challenge yourself and each other, have fun, be innovative, be there for each other and remember WE WILL KICK BUTT THIS YEAR!
