I'm assuming you are asking about room selection for the
next academic year.

The process we have in place (at Valparaiso), which was
developed and is annually reviewed by students, is to give
first preference base upon credit hours completed for
upperclass students.  Highest GPA is the tie breaker.  For
current freshman we create a random assignment based upon
their last 4 digits of their social security number.

Everyone is given an appointment time based upon their
priority number...they go to location on campus and make
their selection of the available rooms.  Higher priority
individuals may take a roommate choice with them at their
appointment time.

I've already started discussions with our Electronic
Information staff to put this process on the web in two
years.
