Hi Megan,
Info. on training your Staff on how to identify the smell of Marijuana

Something that I have used before has been Lipton Tea Bags. You burn
the whole bag. It comes close to the smell and it is cost-efficient.

The place to buy the "pseudo marijuana insence pellets" is from L.A.W.
Publications. Their number is 1800-527-0156. Fax is 972-392-9724.

I have also had RAs use a blend of tea leaves to burn to simulate the
smell...we actually had security come into the hall to see if they
weren't really smoking pot.

Megan,

I would recommend contacting your campus' Public Safety or Police
Department for assistance with a controlled burn of marijuana if you
cannot find the "pellet" you mention. We did this last year during RA
training and it was quite helpful. Good luck!

Megan -

You can try your local police dept's outreach section. We get our local
PD to come in and do a drug workshop during training and they light the
marijuana pellet.

If you can't find a "marijuana" pill for your behind closed doors,
burning sage (household seasoning) makes a very similar smell. I went to
a Comanche Pow-wow with my husband and was almost convinced that they were
smoking an illegal substance. Being Comanche Indian, he told with me
that the tribe burns/smokes sage for ceremonial purposes instead of
marijuana or peyote.
