 Apartment Staffing

Here at Alfred University, we have on-campus student apartments which have a staff assistant (graduate student) and are covered by the RAs of another building, in a buddy-building arrangment.   My current staff are looking at proposing staffing the apartments with their own RAs in the future and are looking for ways to support and finance this proposed initiative.

Ted,

Here at Macalester College we just opened a new apartment building.  We
have that building staffed with it's own community assistant(CA).  He is a
part of my overall staff and serves on duty just like the other CA's in my
area.  We do not do duty tours in the apartments however.  We marketed them
as "adult living" and thus feel like the duty rounds would be an intrusion
into that community.  So far it seems to be working well.  We have had some
problems working out the kinks in a new building and the CA has done a
great job of managing those situations for us.  I hope this information it
helpful.
