Ideas
for recognition
Mark
February 21st on your calendars now! If
you are a student staff member, inform your supervisors
of this day!!
Make
this February 21th, and every third Wednesday of February
a special day for student staff!
This is a great opportunity for you to recognize
your RAs, CAs, SAs, RCs, etc.
Please make your staff aware of this day of recognition
so they have an opportunity to make it a special day
for their student staff!
The day is included in Chases Calendar of Events,
and is recognized internationally!
Thanks for your help in celebrating the “International
Student Housing Staff Recognition Day!”
It is our hope that this day will be recognized on
every campus throughout the country on a yearly basis.
It is our goal to have the third Wednesday in every
February belong to the residence hall student staffs.
Please spread the word to other campuses, and this
February 16th, make plans to recognize your student
staff in a special way!
History:
In 1999, I worked to develop the recognition day with
a colleague named Grant Anderson, who was a Hall Director
at Colorado State at the time. We consulted with several
other professionals on developing this day of
recognition for student staff in residence halls.
After doing some research and requesting feedback,
we named the 3rd Wednesday of February as “International
Student Housing Staff Recognition Day.”
This date was chosen because it is a time of the year,
and a day of the week, when all schools, to our knowledge,
are open thus assuring that this day can be celebrated
every year throughout the country. It also does
not conflict with any major holidays.
The
International Recognition Day is now recognized by
Colleges and Universities all over the country and
is listed in Chase's Calendar of Events.
