Description:
This
program is a month long event consisting of
three programs all that deal with metal. The
first even is a door deck program using AOL
Metal Tins. The second program is a charity
can collection. Here in Iowa, we have to pay
a 5 cent deposit for each can. So it is fairly
easy to get money from donated cans. The third
program is duct tape inventions.
Instructions :
Tin
door decs:-> What you need to do is
collect those AOL metal tins that are sent
to the dorms. Then you can invite your residents
to come and decorate their own door deck.
I use puffy paint to do this, but I've seen
people use colored permanent markers.
Can
Collection:-> I sent an e-mail to my
residents telling them that there was going
to be a can collection and the proceeds would
go to a loval charity. I then but a box with
a bag in it for the residents to put their
cans in. Then I deposited the cans and gave
the money to the charity.
Duct
Tape inventions:-> There are three
rules to this: You can only use duct tape,
wire, and cardboard. The entire invention
must be covered with duct tape. Each person
can make an invention. The male and female
with the best inventions recieve prizes. I
also ordered bread sticks for incentive for
people to come down and check out the program.
Considerations:
Word
of mouth advertisment is the best method on
this. As long as you can get one big group to
go and do this, the other groups on the floor
will soon follow. Since these are mostly fun/social
programs, try to schedule the programs when
the residents aren't busy.
Advertising:
Simply
download, edit on your computer, print them
out and copy onto colored paper. It is also
recommended that you use other forms of advertising
such as door hangers, email, and as always,
word of mouth.
These
three flyers are all on the MetalMonthAdvertisments.ppt
PowerPoint file.
