Holiday
Tradition Cook-Off |
Description: My co-RA and I got together to do a
diversity program this December.
I'm Jewish, she's Christian and we were talking about
traditions that our families had during the holiday
season. We decided it would be fun to share our
traditions with our residents in a program.
With me, we made Potato Latkes from scratch,...with her
we made gingerbread houses. It was a lot of fun and we
spoke of and learned about each other's traditions at
the same time!
Instructions_Things_Needed: You need a good
recipe for latkes,...which can easily be found anywhere
on the internet,...basic ingredients include: potatoes,
eggs, flour, cooking oil, salt, pepper,...you may also
want to get apple sauce and sour cream!
BTW,...it usually helps if your residence hall has a
kitchen,...
For the gingerbread houses,...okay,...they were really
graham cracker houses,...you need confectioner's sugar
and a little itty bit of water to make the paste,...then
go wild with the candy!!!
Other Considerations: Ask other residents what
they do for the holidays,...the free food thing always
works, however,...we got a great turnout!
