Stress Relievers

Name: Tisha Gioviannia
School: culver-stockton college

Description:

We made stress relievers out of balloons filled with flour.
If made correctly they work like stress balls and will last a long time.

I had some really great feedback from my residents.

Instructions/Things Needed:

NEEDED:
1 bag of average sized, multi-colored balloons
1 5lb. bag of flour
1 large table
several empty, plastic bottles
1 pair of very sharp scissors

INSTRUCTIONS:
cut the plastic bottles in half and remove the caps.
fit the balloons over the small end of the top half of the bottle (this will serve as a funnel).
use the bottom half of the bottle as a scoop to fill the funnel with flour.
slowly work the flour down into the balloon
once the balloon is as full as the individual likes, simply remove the funnel and tie the end.

Other Considerations:

This is a great community builder because a buddy is needed to hold the bottle/balloon while you work the flour down into the balloon.

Have each resident bring their own plastic bottle

Make sure that you do one before your program so that you understand how it is done and can effectively show your residents.

Have patience. It takes some time to work the flour down into the balloons.
