Movie Marathon

Name: Shea Maddox and David Chambers
School: Millsaps College
email: chambds@millsaps.edu

Description:

Over Easter Break, another RA and myself were borded, and figured the few students left on campus where also. We had a movie marathon (4 to be exact). After finishing the last movie (Halloween H20) we (the other RA and the 5 students who came by) decided to do it again on Saturday. We had not all seen the whole Halloween series, so that was our goal. None of us new how many there where. The other RA (Shea) and myself went to 2 movie rental places to finally get all SEVEN movies. We started at 4 pm on Saturday and finished up around 5AM Sunday morning. We had people coming and going the entire time. Food and drinks were provided and we had great conversation about the movies and being on campus when no one was there. We had people talking about that program for about 2 weeks and more people wanted to take part in the next one...we are thinking Nightmare on Elm Street next.

Instructions/Things Needed:

A good series of movies and a "dead" campus. With only a few people being on campus, it made it more fun than if a lot of people had been there. If you provide drinks and food, it will take a lot, even if there are just a few. We had a total of 10 people (at one time or another) and went through six 6 packs of coke, a 2 litter of Dr. Pepper and about a lot of fast food. Also, since it could take a few hours, you will need a good chair. Our RLS said he thought this could be one of the longest on going program he had ever heard of, especially planned on such a short amount of time.

Other Considerations:

I would start earlier on the movies. Also, get a little bit bigger room than the RLC's apartment.

Legal Considerations
