Inter-Hall Socials

Description:

This program is an ongoing series.  Our building is 8 halls of freshmen. My staff of RAs believes that it is important for the residents to meet their building mates in addition to their hall mates.  We want them to recognize the people going in and out the door and maybe make friends with someone up/downstairs. We want to randomly pair the halls up for a brief social mixer in one of our 4 lobbies.  We can have 4 mixers on the same evening.  We hope to do one  or two of these programs a month.

Instructions/Things Needed:

Snacks, maybe a rented movie, possibly craft supplies depending on what we want to do at each one.  Our first one will be "Cookies and Milk and a letter home."  This will be about a week after classes start.  In each lobby we will have cookies and milk and encourage the residents to write letters to their friends or family at home.

Other Considerations:

This is just a mixer opportunity for residents to meet each other and build social bridges between halls.  But even if a handful of people participate at least those community bridges have been built and they can introduce their new friends.
