Indian Dance and Culture Night
Description: I asked a freind of mine who does traditional Indian dance to come in and teach my hall an Indian dance to some Indian pop music. then afterwords we ate homemade curry, lentils, and rice that my co-ra and I prepared. and then watched a Bollywood film
Instructions: -find a dance instructor in Indian dance i would think a good place to look is with any campus international student society or local culture centers. I happened to be lucky because I had a freind who taught us.
-find recipe online for curry, lentils and rice ( i used a veggie freindly one so everyone could eat) -Find some Indian pop music Itunes is great i used a lot of the songs from "Bend it Like Beckam" and then my freind provided some others as well again I would think the International Student Society would be able to help -you want to leave about an 1 1/2 - 2 hrs for food prep -also a larger room is better so there is freedom to move.
-then just have a lot of fun.
Other Considerations: The program really went well. The only thing i would do differently is maybe try a larger variety of food and just really check the source for the curry because I don't think my curry was the most traditional. maybe even order some from an Indian restaurant depending on budget.
