Hunt for a Sundae

Description: This program is designed to get residents familiar with rules/campus policies, and the different RA's throughout the building. To allow students an opportunity to meet different people, have the RA section them off in different groups of about 3, other than their usual friends. Each group will be given the name of a RA who is on duty for that night and they will have to work together to figure out where that RA's room is located. Once they get to the room, the RA will have a quiz for them. The group will have to work together to answer the questions correctly. Once the quiz is complete, they will receive one ingredient in making an ice cream sundae. The group will then receive the name of a different counselor and they will have to complete the steps listed above. At the end, they will have a completed ice cream sundae.

Instructions_Things_Needed:

ice cream
chocolate/caramel/stawberry syrup
nuts
cherries
whipped cream
any other sundae toppings desired
bowls
spoons
napkins
copies of quizzes

Other Considerations:

Sample multiple choice and T/F questions on the quizzes include:

Who is the Dean of Students?
Who is the Student Body President?
What is the telephone number to report campus maintenance problems?
When walking to and from community restrooms, is it acceptable to wear beach sized bath towels?

I had 3 quizzes with 3 questions on each quiz.

This was an excellent program that attracted well over 30 people. This worked well because it is hard to get residents to come to programs unless there is free food. This program accomplished that while being meaningful at the same time. Residents got free ice cream sundaes while interacting with each other and being reminded of campus rules and policies.
