Making fleece blankets to keep you WARM!

Description : I searched for the cheapest price for fleece and i found it at Walmart. I had sign ups to make blankets and advertised "to keep you warm" because since we just got a HUGE snow storm our building is even colder! Plus they are great Christmas gifts. I had 20+ people sign up which was great for our building of almost all Junior and Seniors. When they signed up i had them write down their favorite colors. I could only take the first 20 people and i went to walmart to get the fleece. The only bad thing was the fleece is expensive and came to $400.00 for enough for 20 people.

Instructions:

  1. Price fleece...$4.00/yd is good!
  2. Get two yards of a solid color and two yards of a print.
  3. Lay the fleece down so the side you want to see is at the bottom and put the other piece of fleece on top with the side you want to see facing the top.
  4. Now you have to square the fleece. So cut out 5 inch squares on each of the 4 sides of the fleece. (see diagram attachment)
  5. Cut two inch strips going 5inches into the material around the WHOLE blanket (through both pieces of material)(see diagram attachment)
  6. Tie both pieces together to make knots! Ta da! you have a nice thick blanket to keep you warm..
  7. While everyone is working serve hot chocolate and popcorn and put on a christmas movie (the grinch) to watch! :)

Considerations : Make sure you have a large area because the blankets are nice and big! Find out if Walmart will donate materials to you, you will have to fill out paper work a month in advance.

It's really easy and they come out great! :) the picture below is me in the pink and black and one of my residents holding up our matching blankets! :)
