Bake Off
Description: OUr school is seperated between apratments and dorms. We sent out fliers to all of the apartment residents asking them to bake a treat for the dorm residents to taste. Then we sent out a flier to the dorm residents askign them to come taste the treats the aprtment resident sbaked and to judge the top three favorites. We then had the dorm residents turn in their ballets and gave out awards of spray painted oven mitts, Gold for first, silver for second and copper for third. Each winner also recieved a starbucks giftcard of $20, $15 and $10.
Instructions: You need to send out seprate fliers to your aprtment residents and dorm residents. Make sure to get plenty of apartment residents to sign up with their R.A. then make maps of the apartments participating for the dorm residents. Hand out the maps to the dorm residents and tell them they have a certain amount of time to go out and taste all of the treats, then have them meet back at a designated spot and turn in their ballets that you had gave them with their maps. Hand out prizes.
Other Considerations: We did it the end of our dead week and right before finals, I would suggest doign it at a different time as we heard from sevral apartment residents that they would have participated if they had time, but because of when the activity fell they were too stressed about finals and finishing projects. Also really hype up the bake off to the dorm residents, it's a lot more fun if there are more people judging. By the end of the night people start to need some water due to all the sweets I would reccomend havign a water station.
