A Taste of Africa

Description: This was a co-program i did and we had a panel discussion on different topics revolving around Africa and also a guest speaker. We had African Art on display, music, two dance groups; one that did African dancing and another with women actually born and raised in Africa. Finally, as the title assumes, we had African food that was catered. This we did in the month of Feb.

Instructions: -First make sure you have enough money to cater just in case you cant prepare the food on site (name of program is TASTE of Africa) -Enlist people to be on your panel from your campus -Write letters to local grocery stores to start asking for donations such as plates, cups, drinks, and maybe veggie and fruit trays.
-Check to see if your school has a modern dance group or dance team (most dont charge their own school unless its a concert) -Write a letter explaining your program and why its important to have this on your campus and send to every department on-campus asking for donations (this may help with costs) -After you have done this it is optional to get a guest speaker -Make sure you get your panelists to start helping you promote your program at least 2 weeks in advance -oh yea make some really hot flyers (check in the art department for people who want to be exposed)

Other Considerations: -Time (must plan at least one month in advance depending how your schools does money for program planning -Keep emailing your panelists daily to make sure they know the topics and have not forgotten the program -Have people confirm at least 3 weeks before -Do not plan this program alone and only work with an RA that will do their part -Make sure you have the space available for your predicted amount of people.

mass e-mail and doc (both are in Word)
