Workin' the Party Scene
Physical
Description:
This program was presented at the 1998 IACURH conference. In a large room hang signs that
read "bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, etc...). In the kitchen, have non-alcoholic mixed
drinks prepared. As each resident enters the room, hand them a slip with a role on it for
them to play (i.e.-Social drinker w/ a 1 drink max, Non drinker, Drug dealer, alcoholic,
designated driver, etc...) Have the "bartender" push the residents to drink, and
have them put a tick mark on the cup everytime the resident gets a refill. Play loud music
and let everyone just mingle and drink while they play their role.
After an hour or so, stop the music and have evryone sit in a circle, then go around and
tell their role and how much they had to drink. (Usually the designated driver and
non-drinker will have had a drink or two), then begin a discussion about how often these
things happen.
Instructions/Things Needed:
Blenders
Drink Mixes
Cups
Role Slips
Radio
Bartender
D.J.
Other Considerations:
If you have a drug dealer, make sure that their role slip tells them to encourage the
residents to but from them, each time the resident buys, have the dealer put a sticker on
their hand or shirt.
After the party, also ask how many people bought drugs!!Kari Hendricks
