Program: Eating Disorders hit Home

Description:

After realizing that our hall had several students with severe eating disorders we decided that a program would be appropriate. Instead of doing a lecture style program or just providing statistics, facts, and figures we contacted a local counseling service and asked if they knew anyone that would be willing to come out and "tell their story" about the disease.


A woman came and told her story to about 30 residents and allowed for questions afterward. The event was quite emotional. This newer approach really worked with the students. We tried to overcome the idea of "it won't happen to me"
