About

Survival Sewing

 Name:    Sabrina
School:  University of Houston

Description:

Many students don't know how to sew even a button on or mend things that aren't really big enough to take to a tailor, so this program will teach the residents how to sew a button on, mend a hem, put on a patch and offer handouts so they can practice later.

Instructions/Things Needed:

one needle for each participant
thread
a button for each resident.
remnants of material
a patch for each resident
handouts on basics of sewing
Free food for after the lessons

Other Considerations:

If you don't sew yourself, find someone who does.  Also, this program is best for a small group because the instructor should go around to check on how they are doing individually and offer suggestions.
