Coffee
and Creativity
|
| Description:
A time for residents and staff to express their talents,
enjoy coffee and treats, design a cultura square for
our cultural quilt, relax, meet new people in a comfortable,
vibrant atmosphere. Its like bringing a coffee-house
setting but in the resident halls.
Instructions:
- Begin advertisement with posters and word of
mouth. Make the posters attractive: quality over
quantity
- Ask those residents who you know have special
talents, such as playing guitar, poetry (reading
or writing), singing, play drums or other instruments
to participate.
- Get other RA's involved so that you have more
help and more resident involvement
- Purchase supplies: coffee, cream, sugar, treats,
tea, hot chocolate, cups, utensils, plates, etc.
- Look through decorations shared with other RA's
and try to find some things that shine, sparkle,
etc. such as garland, stars. We used a black sheet
as the background and put the garland and stars
around it.
- Find, purchase a boom box that has a microphone,
or use a karaoke machine
- Buy fabric, fabric pens for the cultural quilt;
residents design a quilt piece that represents their
culture: another art aspect to the night
- Personally invite people!!!
Other Considerations:
1. Make sure all equipment is working
2. Have RA's personally invite their residents
3. Get a variety of different acts
4. Have a sign-up sheet available @ front desk
