Ice Cream Social - Privilege

Description:

We had a party and invited many people for ice cream and a movie.  Then the people who came were treated according to their race.  Black females were given first choice on the ice cream and were offered toppings.  They were also put in the front row.  Everyone else had to get what was left and were not given toppings.

Instructions/Things Needed:

Needed:

Icecream
toppings
movie

Best if 3-4 people run it.  Some can serve, while others show the privileged people to their seats and act as usher during the movie.  Tell people they need to be quiet, even if they're not talking, so that the people in front can hear the movie.

Other Considerations:

Afterwards, explain what is going on, by now some people have figured it out.  Remember to not tell the residents it is a privilege program.  You can change anything, what is served, or who and how people are privileged.  Works best if it is not white males.  Try to explain afterwards that there was no intention of cruelty or hard feelings.  Then go into a discussion.  Be open to what people say. (Disclaimers are always good at the start of the program, listen, respect, and keep everything said in this room, respect)
