Contact a local florist or greenhouse, ask them to donate some
planters,
soil, and small plants (if they do not donate the cost per student
participant is ~$5-10, sometimes you can receive a discount).
Have the florist come in, and demonstrate how to transplant the
plants, how to take care of them etc. This is a good program
because many students like some plants in their room to brighten
things up and give their room a homey touch. Make sure to do
this program in an area in which some soil on the floor won't make too
much of a mess.
