Penny Wars

Description:

This program is a fun way to help the community.  Each corridor was assigned a jar that was kept in the CAGE (RA Office).  The object of the game was to have the most positive points in your floor's jar.  Penny's are worth +1 point, while anything silver is worth negative points (Nickels (-5), Dimes (-10), Quarters (-25), etc.) Dollar bills were also worth negative points (-100!).  Residents are to put the pennies in their floor's jar, and to put negative points into other floor's jars!  Most positive point floor wins a prize (like a pizza party!!)  Money can be donated to charity local or national!

Instructions/Things Needed:

Gallon sized jars (enough for each floor)
coin wraps

Other Considerations:

lots of coins to count and roll!

Here's how another RA did this program:

Description:

Each floor puts a large jar in the main lobby (in a closely monitored area), then you set a date for the wars to end. During the wars, residents put money in the jars and at the end whichever floor has the most PENNIES in their jar wins.
CATCH-For each coin or bill other than a penny that is in the jar, that amount is subtracted from the total # of pennies (i.e-if there are 700 pennies and a dollar bill, then the floor loses 100 points)
Whichever floor wins gets a pizza party (or some sort of reward) and the money is donated to charity

Instructions/Things Needed:

1 Jar per floor
