Look,
Mom! I'm an Author! |
Description:
This is a fantastic way to bring your residents closer together while,
at the very same time, contributing to a worthwhile cause. The idea is
to write a poem (one that makes sense, or one that really doesn't).
Then, you get together with your residents and and illustrate the
poem. (The number of pages will reflect how many lines are in the
poem). Then, you get the pages laminated, bind em together, and *zappo*
you and your residents have made a children's book. Here's the kicker,
you donate the book to a local hospital who then gives it to parents
who have just had children. With the book, you can include a pamphlet
about local "learn to read" programs, so that parents who
don't know how to read may be encouraged to learn how to read the book
to their child. Depending on how many residents show up for the event,
you can maybe even make 4, 5 or 80 books!!
Instructions\Things Needed:
Construction Paper
A Childlike Soul
$ to get the book laminated and bound
Other Considerations:
You might want to get in touch with a hospital beforehand to make sure
they will let you give the book to a family (some places get a little
testy about this, trust me)
