Description:
This program works great, my floor really liked it. I put up
signs a few weeks in advance that I would be collecting
canned/non-perishable food items, and donating them to a food bank.
Then I set a box up in my hallway to put the cans in. At the
meeting I talked about what a serious problem hunger was, and
presented them with "scary" facts about it, and then a few
days later, we donated the cans to a local shelter. It was a
huge success. A lot of cans were collected, and my residents
said they learned a lot.
Instructions/Things Needed:
facts about hunger &/or homelessness
a box to put cans in
Other Considerations:
This program works especially well if you advertise it before a long
week-end or break, because residents can go home and get canned food!
