If a picture is worth a thousand words... then what would these say?

This is a simple, fun, and really effective bulletin board - especially in an apartment community like mine which is not very social. I got really great participation and feedback from my residents about it - and since I've done it - the idea has been passed on and used successfully by three of my staff members. (Plus it's REALLY EASY to make - you can cut out the mag pictures while you watch tv or something!)

Instructions/Things Needed:

-funny magazine pictures
-blank word bubbles (or caption boxes in a light color) made of construction paper
-some sort of pouch or string to hold several markers on the board for people to write with

Ok here's the deal - you cut out the mag pictures and staple or paste the blank boxes next to them. Somewhere on the board you have the title "if i a picture is worth a thousand words - what would these say?" The idea is that the residents use the markers to make the pictures say funny things.

Other Considerations:

-depending on your hall you may get some "vulgar" comments in the bubble - just be aware of this
-the pictures really make the board - so if they aren't amusing this won't work as well
-you might want to fill in one of the caption boxes - or even two just to get the ball rolling and let residents know it's ok to write on it
-camera clip-art on the sides is a cute addition
-let me know how these turn out!
