National Pizza Day

National Pizza Day

Description: National Pizza Month is October and National Pizza Day is October 11th. This program can be done any day, however, as pizza is a popular food at colleges around the world. This program will educate students about the orgin and development of the pizza pie.

Instructions:

1.) Come up with a date and time for your program, preferrably around mealtime or late night pizza time
2.) Send out creative invitations. You can get away from the typical 8 1/2 X 11" paper flyers. Get some pizza clip art, type in your program information and then cut the flyers out in the shape of a circle. Make them eye-catching and colorful.
3.) Plan your program with different activities. You can have pizza jeopardy, pin the pepperoni on the pizza, pizza word scrambles, and much much more! Include prizes for the winners of these contests. You may be able to get local pizzarias to donate gift certificates and/or pizza if you promise to advertise for their restaurant. If you are going this route, make sure you contact them well in advance, and make sure you speak to the manager in a professional manner.
4.) Lastly, feed them pizza. Try to get the educational elements in first, so they don't just eat and leave.
5.) Most of all, HAVE FUN! You will learn a lot you didn't know before about pizza and the food we eat!
