I started out the program with an
fun informational bulletin board (See picture
below). The bulletin board was humorous, but it
also has symptoms of std's and the phone number
to the wellness center. Also around the board for
the border, I taped (not stapled) condoms all the
way around the board. (Those went quickly.)
For the program I had a speaker
from the campus wellness center come talk to my
residents about safe sex. She also brought more
condoms to pass out to everyone. To top the program
off my residents not only received condoms but pizza.
Hense, a Pizza & Condom Party.
Instructions : The bulletin
board was the hardest part. I wanted a bulletin
board that my residents would actually be interested
in so I created the character of Captain Luv Gluv.
I linked rolled paper towels together and wrapped
them in saran wrap to make the ring. I then placed
a sheet of saran wrap on top of the ring and wrapped
the edges around the ring. To make the resevoir
tip I stretched the saran wrap with my fist. I bought
a yard of blue shiny fabric, and cut out a mask
and a cape for my little super hero. I drew and
cut out little "villans" (STD's) and put
up next to them their symptoms.
I finished the board with a bottom
tag line of : Help Captain Luv Gluv Fight The War
Against Unwanted Pregnancy & STD's!. Contact
your campus wellness center to see if they have
free condoms for you to have and use as your border.
Then just schedule a time for a speaker to come
and talk to your resdients about the importance
of safe sex.
