I'm Thankful For....
Description: I did this bulletin board for my hall of sophomore girls for the month of November and got a much larger response than I had anticipated. First, I made a large turkey for the board with no tail feathers that matched the turkey on the border that I used. To go with his bare behind, I made up this really cheesy poem about how he lost all of his feathers. At the end of the poem, I gave instructions to take a paper feather that I had pinned to the board, write something the girls were thankful for on the feather, and then pin the feather to the backside of the turkey to help fill out his plumage. I had a marker hanging from a ribbon on the bulletin board to make participating as little hassle as possible. The girls ended up using all the feathers, and it was really fun (not to mention interesting) to see what kinds of crazy things they came up with to put up there!
