Description:
This is a fairly easy bulletin board that can be
tailored to whatever the "drugs or choice" are
on your campus. Print out a big banner with some catchy
title like "Choose Your Poison". You can
get information on the effects of various drugs at
http://onhealth.webmd.com/conditions/condctr/substance/item%2C51694.asp
Focus on the most negative effects. If you have the
initiative, you can compile newspaper/magazine clippings
about drugs and/or people who have had bad experiences
or died. Names get people's attention.
Also add a list of alternative things to do on a
Friday/Saturday night.
Instructions/Things Needed:
-Information from a reputable source about the
effects of drugs
-Construction paper
-Ideas of alternative fun things to do
-Newpapers/magazines
Other Considerations:
Keep the overall tone in mind. If the board has
a "preachy" attitude, then the effect is lost.
If the information is presented honestly without the
message of "don't do drugs", then perhaps even
if they don't decide to completely abstain, they will
make smarter decisions.
