ResidentAssistant.com
was started in December of 1998. The purpose
of the website is to provide an additional resource
to augment the resources RAs have available to them
at their institutions. ResidentAssistant.com
also serves as a tool to connect RAs everywhere, allowing
them to share ideas, information and advice. ResLifePro.com
(formerly ResidenceHallDirector.com) was added to
the site to provide more resources to Residence Life
Professionals.
Who I am:
My name is Dan Oltersdorf, and I am a speaker, author
and consultant in Higher Education. I've had the opportunity
to work with numerous colleges and universities around
the country, providing training services, consulting,
online resources, and publications.
My experience:
I was an RA and worked in Orientation as an undergraduate
Colorado State
University, where I received a degree in Human
Development and Family Studies. I then served as a
Hall Director at Florida
State University, where I received my master's
degree in Higher Education. I then moved on to the
University of Miami,
where I had the opportunity to run one of the residential
colleges in that system. I now work with colleges
and universities all over the country to help them
to enhance their residence life programs through speaking,
consulting, training and resources.
As Residence
Life Staff members, we have a wonderful opportunity
to positively influence the lives of students.
I hope this helps you to find ways to do your job
better and grow personally as you continue to have
an impact on the lives of your residents!
